While urinating, I had the sudden desire to shove a flash in a wicker basket that had been hung in the corner of the bathroom. So, I finished up, washed my hands, removed the towels from inside it, grabbed my gear, and began shooting photons between it’s cracks.
I was curious as to what it might look like. I had an idea in my head, and while it fairly accurate, it was nice to see the idea captured for all to see. I find myself doing that quite often, except I never pull the trigger. I end up leaving that imagery stuck inside my head, where I cannot even begin to describe to a third party.
Today was different. I told myself, “Why wouldn’t you try it? So what if it comes out looking like crap, it will only eat up a few minutes of your time, and prove to scratch your creative itch.” This change of thinking was triggered by the recent road trip. During the road trip, I went a bit out of my comfort zone, and explored with my camera more then usual. This is a trend I hope to keep going, as it’s proven extremely rewarding. This past month, I’ve produced some of my favorite images I’ve ever taken. What a way to start off 2012…
